The five-star Aviva Open Singapore 2004 took place on 16-21 November, attracting 216 badminton players from 18 countries and 29,000 spectators.
Live matches were also beamed to 135 million viewers in Brunei, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Singapore.
As title sponsor, Aviva branding was prominently displayed at the event, as well as at sports complexes across the island. Spectators at the semis and finals queued to receive complementary Aviva-branded shuttlecocks from the Aviva booth.
Against this colourful backdrop, badminton stars battled for the £88,000 prize.
Charles Anderson, managing director of Aviva Asia, and Keith Perkins, CEO and general manager, Aviva Singapore, presented trophies to the women's singles and men's doubles champions respectively.
"We believe in being dynamic and constantly striving for innovative solutions for our customers," said Keith. "Aviva's support for the Singapore Open as its title sponsor not only reinforces this position but also reflects our commitment to the community here."
Aviva will be sponsoring three major badminton events - the China, Singapore and Hong Kong Opens - through to 2007.
