On Saturday 8 March, inspirational record-breaking British yachtswoman Dee Caffari will be celebrating International Woman's Day. Caffari's Aviva Ocean Racing campaign is pushing the solo yachtswoman's personal boundaries as she prepares to set a new world record by becoming the first woman to sail solo non-stop around the world in both directions. Supporting her philosophy to "dare, dream and discover" Caffari is encouraging women from around the world to realise their personal ambitions no matter how great or small.
Caffari said: "Just two years ago, I was in the midst of my six-month solo voyage around the world against the prevailing winds and currents. Since then, I have stepped up to the competitive world of solo offshore racing and have been pushed outside my comfort zone time and time again as I train for a very different style of sailing. I liken this transition to going from gaining my HGV licence, on the Aviva Challenge, to having to compete at Formula 1 level now. In just a few months I will set off again - this time to take part in the Vendee Globe, a solo race around the world. This will be the toughest endeavour I have attempted yet and I will draw strength from all the strong, inspirational women that have gone before me.
"There are women all over the world achieving amazing things every minute of every day. International Women's Day is about celebrating all their achievements and encouraging all women to dare, dream, discover. You can do more than you think you can!"
