Asia: Aviva sponsors world touring car team at Macau

Aviva is to sponsor two Team Aviva-branded cars in the last two rounds (rounds 21 and 22) of the FIA World Touring Car Championship in Macau on 18 November.

Aviva is to sponsor two Team Aviva-branded cars in the last two rounds (rounds 21 and 22) of the FIA World Touring Car Championship in Macau on 18 November.

The sponsorship was announced on Monday 17 September at The Motorsport Industry Association's annual summer reception at the House of Lords, London.

It follows Team RAC's announcement of their entry into the World Touring Car Championship event at Brands Hatch in the UK on 23 September.

The two cars, BMW 320si E90s, will make up Team Aviva and will be driven by Colin Turkington and Duncan Huisman, drivers with proven track records at the four-mile street circuit in downtown Macau. The BMW 320si E90 is the same model that Andy Priaulx drove to win the WTCC driver's championship last year.

Simon Machell, Asia Pacific CEO, said: "I am delighted that we are able to extend the sponsorship across Aviva. We're a global business and Asia is extremely important in our growth plans, with the sponsorship providing a unique opportunity for the Asia-Pacific audience to interact with the Aviva brand."

Jessica Lee, director of brand and corporate affairs said: "This sponsorship provides a global platform from which to maximise Aviva brand awareness, allowing us to reach out to an Asia-Pacific audience, letting consumers experience the vitality of the Aviva brand.

"The comprehensive TV rights deal that the WTCC has, with coverage in more than 30 countries, will also provide Aviva with brand awareness and help us promote our One-Aviva message across the globe."
