Australia: Aviva and the ballkids do it again!

In 2007, Aviva teams up with kids from around Australia and the Asia Pacific as proud sponsor of the Aviva Ballkids at the Australian Open and several of the Australian Open series tournaments including Sydney's Medibank International.

In 2007, Aviva teams up with kids from around Australia and the Asia Pacific as proud sponsor of the Aviva Ballkids at the Australian Open and several of the Australian Open series tournaments including Sydney's Medibank International.

This is the third year the team of Aviva Ballkids will be sponsored by Aviva, one of Australia's leading financial institutions.

The sponsorship of the Aviva Ballkids has developed since its beginnings in 2005, with the spotlight on the kids growing each year. Showing commitment to Australian tennis, Aviva will also sponsor the Aviva Ballkids at the Medibank International's for the second year in 2007.

Aviva is also excited to announce the sponsorship of the following tournaments; Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts on the Goldcoast, the Next Generation Adelaide International, and the Moorilla Hobart International.

Over 300 Aviva Ballkids have been carefully selected from thousands of applicants from Australia and overseas. Given Aviva's presence across the Asia-Pacific region it is great to welcome Aviva Ballkids from Korea, Japan and China to the team. Each potential ballkid is put through strenuous and extensive trials. The trial tests fitness, concentration, ballskills and above all, attitude towards this important job.

Most Aviva Ballkids are sports enthusiasts; usually members of tennis clubs, football teams or other local sports teams. Their commitment to sport makes for an outstanding contribution at each tournament. For each Aviva Ballkid, the experience of working at such a large event is a crucial start to building a resume.

Annie Parker, winner of the Best Aviva Ballgirl at the Australian Open in 2006, said: "Aviva has done so much for all the ballkids and has given us much more recognition across the public."

As part of the Aviva sponsorship, parents of the Aviva Ballkids receive free life insurance from Aviva in recognition of the role the whole family makes in helping support their child's desire to be an Aviva Ballkid at the Grand Slam tournament.

Allan Griffiths, chief executive officer of Aviva, said Aviva was very proud of the efforts and conduct of the Aviva Ballkids in 2006 and looked forward to the upcoming events in 2007.

"Aviva is a global organisation with a strong focus on the Asia Pacific region. The Australian Open is the Grand Slam of Asia Pacific and is thus a great fit for Aviva with viewers tuning in from all over the world. The Aviva Ballkids are a constant, reliable on-court presence and are absolutely essential to the event. They are a perfect way to have our Aviva brand presented around the world," said Allan.
