The first Aviva Weekend to Breakthrough Breast Cancer 60km walk took to the streets of London over the weekend.
A total of 1,553 exhausted walkers raised a staggering £4 million, which will fund the research, education and campaigning work of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the UK's leading charity dedicated to breast cancer research and education.
The good news is that this amount is set to increase further when the second Aviva-sponsored walk takes place in Birmingham next weekend on 23-24 September.
Group chief executive Richard Harvey and 30 other Aviva walkers took part in the London walk, ably supported by more than 80 Aviva staff crew volunteers.
Lynne Gray, Aviva's director of corporate communications, who completed the walk, said: "What a fantastic event! I felt so privileged to be part of such a positive event that Aviva was involved with. Everyone had a brilliant time, and the amount of money raised for Breakthrough Breast Cancer was truly phenomenal."
