Thousands of brave people are stepping up - literally - across the UK and Canada this summer to join a global effort to raise funds to support breast cancer research. They will walk 60km (37.5m) in one weekend to help in the fight against the disease.
Aviva in the UK and Aviva Canada are sponsoring the walks in both countries. The money raised will go towards funding research to help bring us closer to a future free of breast cancer.
In the UK, Aviva has taken title sponsorship of the event. "The Aviva Weekend to Breakthrough Breast Cancer" will take place in London and Birmingham and all proceeds will go to help fund the work carried out by the charity, Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
In Canada, "The Weekend to End Breast Cancer" will take place in Winnipeg, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto. Aviva Canada will host a "pit stop" in each city - a designated place along the course where participants can pause and refresh before resuming their journey.
Sally Turney, vice president, corporate communications, and nominated head of CSR for Canada, says: "The Weekend to End Breast Cancer fits with our CSR commitment in so many ways.
"Events like these contribute to increasing public awareness - and ultimately finding a cure for a disease which has affected so many lives.''
Sarah Loughran, head of group corporate communications, says: "It's great that Aviva is able to support another like-minded ‘Forward thinking' organisation to help bring the spirit of this campaign to life.
"Working together and sharing ideas with Aviva Canada has helped us get the most out of the sponsorships - we are proud of the way Aviva can play its part in participating in these events on both sides of the Atlantic."
