UK: Aviva takes steps to raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer

Aviva has announced that it is to take title sponsorship of "The Aviva Weekend Walk to Breakthrough Breast Cancer".

Aviva has announced that it is to take title sponsorship of "The Aviva Weekend Walk to Breakthrough Breast Cancer".

This is the largest fund-raising event staged by Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the UK's leading breast cancer charity.

This new sponsorship forms part of Aviva's new corporate "Forward thinking" marketing campaign which was launched in October last year.

Forward thinking - helping our customers plan their futures and thinking in a more progressive way - is at the heart of Aviva's business model. To help bring the spirit of this campaign to life Aviva wants to support organisations and individuals that share a "forward thinking" vision. Breakthrough's vision is for a future without the fear of breast cancer.

To help raise vital funds to support this work, The Aviva Weekend to Breakthrough Breast Cancer takes to the streets of London (15-17 September 2006) and Birmingham (22-24 September 2006), with around 8,000 walkers taking part.

Announcing the partnership, Aviva's group chief executive Richard Harvey said: "As a business, Aviva's core purpose is to help our customers think ahead about their future financial needs and help them build better tomorrows.

"With this new partnership, we are supporting Breakthrough Breast Cancer's vision of a future free from the fear of breast cancer which is at the heart of their Generations Study."

Over the coming months Aviva will work closely with Breakthrough Breast Cancer to prepare for the two walks.
