Poland: Single, beautiful and ingenious? Aviva debunks the myth about single women

High speed, high bills and high heels – this is the stereotypical perception of a single woman’s life. Popular TV series and adverts present independent women, who enjoy their lives, embrace the "here and now" and do not worry about tomorrow. Future in the TV series is reserved for stable families, fathers-to-be, caring mothers and experienced senior members of the society.

Life insurance has always been regarded as a proof of responsibility and concern for the nearest and dearest – therefore, in general opinion it is something left mainly for the heads of families who worry about the living of their closest ones if they were to die. The data below show that also single people do see the advantages of life policies, usually extended by a package of additional insurances.

Aviva took a closer look at financial expectations and preferences of married and single customers. The results are surprising – it turns out that single women insure their lives for a higher amount than married women do. An average amount of a single woman’s insurance within New Perspective package equals PLN 92,000. Married women on average insure their lives for PLN 76,000, which is 21% less. 

It turns out that single woman’s life is not only about dressing, briefing, shopping, jogging, styling and clubbing - says Dominika Kraśko-Białek, Aviva’s deputy chairperson for marketing – Polish women who remain single seriously think about their future, also the financial one. Frivolous single woman who embraces the here and now and spends her last penny on make-up and clothes is a myth.

According to single women’s opinion, an advantage of New Perspective is the fact that apart from life insurance, this policy can also assure for example an access to a network of private health centres and other health benefits, as well as accident and inability to work insurance.
