Aviva Investors wins second IPD performance award for its Quercus Healthcare Property Fund

Aviva Investors today announced that its Quercus Healthcare Property Fund has won the award for best performing Specialist Fund in the UK at this year’s IPD European Property Investment Awards.

Aviva Investors today announced that its Quercus Healthcare Property Fund (“Quercus”) has won the award for best performing Specialist Fund in the UK at this year’s IPD European Property Investment Awards. This is the second IPD performance award that Quercus has won this year, having recently received the award for Specialist Pooled Funds and Traditional Estates above £500m at the IPD/IPF UK Property Investment Awards.

Quercus, a fund managed by Aviva Investors and Quintain Estates and Development plc, was launched in December 1998 to invest in healthcare facilities throughout the UK and is managed by Sian Humphrey. The assets are sub-divided into two areas of focus: nursing/care for the elderly and the care of younger adults with learning disabilities or specialist needs. Aviva Investors manages the Fund while Quintain is responsible for the management of the assets within the portfolio.

Commenting on the award, Ian Womack, Aviva Investors chief executive real estate, said: “The IPD is a highly respected industry body and to win two awards of this calibre for one fund is a phenomenal achievement and we are delighted. Over the past few years the property market has been exposed to a significant amount of volatility. Despite this, the team at Aviva Investors and Quintain have successfully navigated their way through these headwinds and provided our clients with a fund that has delivered consistent positive returns.

“We pride ourselves on being able to provide innovative solutions to our clients in both the traditional and specialist sectors and in winning these awards we have demonstrated the expertise we have in the management of specialist sector property funds. These awards also reinforce our position as one of the market leaders in this space.”

Now in its sixth year, the awards are presented to the best performing balanced and specialist funds on a three-year annualised total returns basis through to December 2010. Winners are determined by IPD's standardised performance measurement procedures and recognise independently verified investment performance by pension and life funds, pooled property funds, property investment companies and other professionally managed real estate portfolio's across Europe.
