Morley Fund Management (Morley) has strengthened its strategy team by recruiting Gerard Lane as a quantitative strategist. Reporting to Adrian Jarvis, Head of Strategy, Gerard's appointment builds Morley's quantitative fund management capability.
Morley Fund Management (Morley) has strengthened its strategy team by recruiting Gerard Lane as a quantitative strategist. Reporting to Adrian Jarvis, Head of Strategy, Gerard's appointment builds Morley's quantitative fund management capability.
Gerard will be working between the strategy team and fund managers to exploit Morley's top-down strategy and bottom-up quantitative research to identify sector and stock specific opportunities in all equity regions. Gerard will undertake asset allocation and broader strategic research to ensure longer-term issues are examined to seek investment advantage.
In addition, Gerard's fund management experience will be essential in the management of Morley's increasing suite of active quant funds, currently valued at Ł1.25bn. He will also be involved in adding value to Ł10bn of enhanced index funds via options trades.
Educated with a Masters in Economics, Gerard's experience is highly varied, encompassing both bond and equity fund management. He joins Morley from BWD Rensburg where, as a fund manager, he was responsible for large gross fund client portfolios. Prior to this, Gerard worked at UBS Warburg as a UK strategist.
Gerard Lane joined Morley on 26 March 2003 and said: "The opportunity to join a strategy team that conducts active investment management as well as in-depth research into sector strategy and asset allocation, combines the best of both buy and sell-side."

Morley employs a 12-strong strategy team consisting of economists, strategists and specialist fund managers. The team is responsible for:
- Developing and presenting the house strategy view, including economics, sector and market implications, leading directly to Morley's asset allocation on Ł75bn of assets
- Conducting top-down and bottom-up quant analysis and research to assist the investment team in managing Ł105bn of assets.
- Managing Ł15bn of specialist funds: active quant, enhanced index and convertibles
