Morley Fund Management (Morley), one of the UK’s largest fund managers, has appointed Frances Cowell to its Portfolio Risk team. Her new role at Morley adds further resource to an already leading risk management team.
Morley Fund Management (Morley), one of the UK’s largest fund managers, has appointed Frances Cowell to its Portfolio Risk team. Her new role at Morley adds further resource to an already leading risk management team.
Morley has been increasing the use of derivatives and other non-traditional investment techniques to enhance the return and hedge the risk of conventional portfolios. Frances’ role is to develop the risk management for these non-traditional investments.
Frances brings to Morley extensive experience in incorporating derivatives in portfolio management across asset classes. This experience will be applied in the team to extend the high standards of risk management to new products and new investment strategies within existing products.
Frances joins Morley from QUANTEC, a major provider of portfolio risk management systems. Prior to that she was at NatWest Investment Management, where she was responsible for designing and managing large portfolios with closely defined risk profiles.
Julie Johnson, Head of Portfolio Risk at Morley, said: “Frances will be an asset to the team because she has expertise in areas such as derivatives and hedge funds. These sophisticated investments, where traditional risk management techniques are difficult to apply, are playing an increasingly important role in Morley's fund range.”
