Morley Fund Management ("Morley") has underscored its commitment to becoming one of the major global fund management players through two board level appointments with international responsibilities reporting to Keith Jones, Managing Director of Morley.
Malcolm Le May (43) has been appointed as Managing Director International with responsibility for all Morley's business development activities in the Americas, Asia and the Pacific Rim. Malcolm was formerly Deputy Chief Executive and Global Head of Corporate and Institutional Finance at ING Barings, where he was responsible for devising the strategic plan for the business and he played a key part in developing the business. Prior to ING Malcolm held a variety of senior international roles including Head of European Investment Banking at UBS and post merger co-Head of European Investment Banking at UBS Warburg.
Jan Nuttall (43) has been appointed as Human Resources Director with responsibility for personnel, training and people development world-wide. Jan joins Morley from Citibank where she was Vice President Human Resources for the Global Investment Management and Private Banking Group for four years. Prior to joining Citibank Jan held senior Human Resources positions at PepsiCo.
To ensure greater synergy and a coherent customer focus, Morley's retail and institutional business development activities will be combined and led by Gerard Quirke (41), current Head of Retail, Morley Fund Management, with immediate effect.
Keith Jones, Managing Director of Morley Fund Management, said: "We are delighted to be able to announce the appointment of such high calibre directors with outstanding track records in their chosen fields. The appointments of Malcolm Le May and Jan Nuttall will strengthen the composition of the Morley board allowing us to build on the foundations already laid in the last year and to fulfil our global ambitions. With Ł106bn under management in the UK and a robust investment engine and team we already have the key components in place. With the arrival of these individuals and the appointment of Gerard Quirke as Head of Retail & Institutional, we now have the people required to transform what is already a successful fund management house to a business which will become one of the major global players."
Commenting on the business opportunity, Gerard Quirke, Head of Retail and Institutional at Morley said: "The distinction between retail and institutional is becoming increasingly blurred. Our challenge is to ensure that our focus is external and on the needs of our investors. We can do this best by pooling the resources of our retail and institutional teams whilst maintaining a focus on our distinct areas of expertise. The driver behind this decision is our goal to establish ourselves as a top 5 player in the markets in which we operate."
