
Insurance, Wealth & Retirement (IWR)
Our IWR business offers Insurance (protection and health), Wealth (pensions, savings and investments) and Retirement (annuities and equity release) products in the UK and Ireland. Our unique position in the market enables us to support over 12 million customers and deliver on our vision to be the UK & Ireland’s go-to lifetime partner for financial wellbeing.
Insurance
We are the largest provider of life insurance in the UK[1], with a 26% share[2]. We also have a strong, growing Health business serving corporate and individual clients.
Wealth
We are the leading provider in the UK wealth market by assets and net flows[1], with the number one position in workplace pensions[3], a dedicated financial advice service, a scalable adviser platform, and a growing direct-to-customer offering, all focused on simplifying financial decisions and helping customers invest for their future.
Retirement
We are the largest provider of UK individual annuities by assets[1] and number one in equity release by loan book size[4]. Our Retirement business includes bulk purchase annuities and consistently delivers strong capital returns and long-term cash generation.
Ireland Life
In Ireland we offer a wide range of products across protection, savings, pensions and annuities. We are the market leader in the income protection market[4].
UK & Ireland General Insurance (UK&I GI)
Aviva is a leading general insurer in the UK and Ireland, providing insurance solutions to over seven million customers. We hold the number one market position in the UK[5] and number three in Ireland[6].
In personal lines, we offer motor, home, travel, breakdown, pet and gadget insurance. We operate our own garage repair network and, following the acquisition of Direct Line in July 2025, we expect to become the UK’s number one personal lines insurer[7].
We offer commercial lines insurance to a wide range of businesses, from the micro segment up to large UK and global corporates. We also operate in the London market through our Lloyds syndicate, Probitas.
In 2024, we entered the healthcare market in Ireland with Level Health, a joint venture start-up.
Canada General Insurance
Canada ranks among the top ten largest insurance markets globally[8] and Aviva Canada is the second largest general insurer[9].
We are a full-scale national insurer with a range of general insurance products in commercial lines and personal lines including home, auto, business and lifestyle products.
Aviva Investors
Aviva Investors is a global asset manager, combining the breadth of our multi-asset, private and public market capabilities to deliver for clients’ evolving needs.
Understanding clients’ different goals is at the heart of how we partner with them and design solutions to last.
Aviva Investors manages £246 billion (as at 30 June 2025) of which £206.4 billion is managed on behalf of Aviva Group. We have a close partnership with Aviva’s IWR business offering a highly diversified range of solutions to Wealth customers through their workplace and retail channels, and originating illiquid assets to back IWR annuities, supporting growth in bulk purchase annuity deals.
We also use our skills and expertise in asset allocation, portfolio construction and risk management, to provide a range of asset management solutions to our institutional, insurance and wealth clients globally.
International investments
Our international investments comprise operations in India and China.
In India, the Group has a 74% shareholding in Aviva India.
In China, Aviva plc has a 50% shareholding in Aviva-COFCO Life Insurance Company Limited.
