Ireland: Aviva make €10 million fund available for people affected by recent flooding

Aviva has announced that it is making €10 million immediately available for its customers who were affected by the flooding that occurred on Monday 24 October.

Aviva has announced that it is making €10 million immediately available for its customers who were affected by the flooding that occurred on Monday 24 October. Aviva has created this fund to ensure that its can make advance payments to its customers so that they can purchase much needed items that were lost during the flooding.

Aviva has received over 1,000 claim related calls in its Galway call centre since Monday with 70% of them relating to property and the remaining 30% relating to motor claims. Many people’s homes and cars have been badly damaged and temporary accommodation or alternative forms of transport have had to be arranged at very short notice. In order to overcome any cash flow issues, Aviva is making advance payments to its affected customers so that they can purchase replacement household belongings and pay for temporary or rented accommodation. These payments will be offset against the outstanding claims when they are settled at a later date.

Commenting on the fund, Grainne Mackin, head of group communications in Aviva said: “A lot of our customers have had very traumatic experiences and have lost a lot of their personal belongings or homes. By making advance payments we are attempting to reduce some of their concerns by ensuring that they have the necessary finances to get their lives back up and running as quickly as possible.”

Customers who require further information on this fund should contact Aviva’s 24 hour dedicated claims service on 1890 666 888.
