Ireland: Aviva Health Insurance to raise premium on Level 2 Hospital

Aviva Health Insurance Ireland Limited has announced that it is to increase the premium cost on its Level 2 Hospital plan only from 1 September 2011.

Aviva Health Insurance Ireland Limited has announced that it is to increase the premium cost on its Level 2 Hospital plan only from 1 September 2011. The premium will increase on Aviva’s Level 2 Hospital by 9.5% for existing customers1 and 19.7% for customers who join Aviva after 1 September 2011 so customers switching to, or renewing with Aviva before then can still avail of the current prices.

The increase on Level 2 Hospital plans is necessary due to the combined effect of an increase in claims frequency and rising claims costs. Aviva customers on Level 1, 3, 4 and 5 are not affected by this increase.

Aviva continues to offer excellent value to Irish families in the health insurance market having just launched two new plans (Level 2 Family Health and Level 2 Health Excess) to meet the changing needs and budgets of Irish consumers. A family of two adults and two children on Aviva’s new Level 2 Family Health plan can avail of significant savings of over €400 when switching from VHI’s Parents & Kids Plan. These new plans, combined with Aviva’s existing products, mean that Aviva Health Insurance has a full range of plans to cater for the Irish public’s benefit requirements and budgets.

In addition, to make it easier for customers to identify the most suitable plan, Aviva is simplifying its’ product offering by rationalising a number of its Level 2 plans with similar levels of cover and benefits.  Aviva is communicating any changes to the relevant members in their renewal letters, allowing customers to choose the plan that best meets their needs.
