Sally Shire, Aviva’s group brand development director, has been appointed to the role of chief executive of the Consortium for Street Children. Sally will start the role in January 2011 as a two year secondment from Aviva. She will lead the Consortium’s focus on advocacy, capability building, best practice and research.
The Consortium for Street Children is the leading international member-based network dedicated to advocating, promoting and campaigning for the rights of street-involved children. It is a partner of Aviva’s international corporate responsibility programme, Street to School, which helps street children around the world get back into education or training.
Amanda Mackenzie, chief marketing officer for Aviva, commented; “I am delighted for Sally and I know she will be wonderful in helping drive the Consortium for Street Children’s work, and benefit our work together.”
Marcus Lyon, chairman for the Consortium for Street Children commented; “Aviva has been one of the most engaged, receptive and innovative corporate partners I have had the pleasure to work with during my 10 years of working with street children. Sally’s extensive experience in brand and cause related marketing will be hugely beneficial for us and we’re excited to welcome her to the team.”
At the same time, Aviva will create a new structure for its group marketing and communications function. Jan Gooding, group marketing operations director, will take responsibility for brand, sponsorship, online and Street to School, alongside her existing responsibilities for procurement and marketing capability. Oliver White, customer and innovation director, will take on responsibility for strategy and planning. Both will continue to report to chief marketing officer, Amanda Mackenzie.
Sally has been Aviva’s group brand development director for five years, leading Aviva’s programme to create a single global brand and most recently launching Aviva’s global brand campaign "You are the Big Picture". She has also played a key role in establishing Street to School.
