At the beginning of this year, the life insurance and pension fund company Aviva Lithuania presented to the media its predictions about the country’s economy and growth in the life insurance market in 2010.
“We predicted that the combined value of contributions contracts signed by all insurers would grow by 14%. The results for the first month of this year show that our prediction is gradually coming true,” states Aviva Lithuania finance manager, Arūnas Rumskas.
Over the first month of this year, newly signed contracts for contributions for a year in Lithuania’s life insurance market increased by 235.6% from 4.66 million litai last January to 15.63 million litai in January this year – which is almost equal to the amount of contributions collected in the life insurance market during the first quarter of last year.
Arūnas Rumskas, Aviva Lithuania finance manager, says: “In 2009, a year marked by crisis, most people were able to understand and appreciate like never before the importance of life insurance as a strong and reliable financial backup. It is to be hoped that the successful start to this year will be a positive impulse toward further growth of signed contracts for contributions for the year 2010.”
The life insurance and pension fund company Aviva Lithaunia accounts for 15.7% of the country’s life insurance market and it is among the three largest companies providing life insurance services in Lithuania. During the first month of this year the company signed a total of 6.48 million litai worth of contributions contracts, while new contracts for contributions for a year in the same period were worth 1.6 million litai.
