In connection with the plan to transform the European division of the Aviva insurance group, the entire management team at Aviva's Czech branch has decided to move on after reaching an agreement with Aviva group representatives following talks. They are set to leave by no later than 30 April 2010.

Karel Veselý, general manager and chairman of the board of directors, is therefore set to leave the company after 13 years, over which time he has occupied a range of specialist and managerial positions in various areas at Aviva.

Others who are to vacate their seats on the board include long-term servant of the company Libor Novák, business development director, and Josef Holub, finance director, who has been working for Aviva since the company was launched in the Czech Republic in 1997. Karel Dejmek, operations director, who also started working for Aviva in 1997, left Aviva on 31 December 2009.

In the meantime the current management team will continue in full to perform all their normal responsibilities associated with the management and operation of the insurance company.

They will also ensure the handover of responsibility to the new management team, to be structured in accordance with the new pan-European management model (see Aviva's press release of 27 October 2009). The Aviva group plans to operate in the Czech Republic in the future via the new pan-European platform, based in Ireland.

Aviva's Czech branch is to play something of a test role within the European transformation process, allowing practical evaluation of some of the components of Aviva's new European model.

Aviva has recorded dynamic business growth in the Czech Republic over the past few years thanks to the development of internal business services and external business networks.

“I am pleased that the new management will be able to carry on with our work from 2009, when, despite the economic recession, Aviva turned in a record number of new insurance policies with a traditionally high-quality portfolio of policies,” said departing general manager Karel Veselý.
