Netherlands: Rabobank and Delta Lloyd set up Holland Fund Project

Rabobank and Delta Lloyd Group are setting up a special fund to invest in the Dutch business community.

  • €200 million already for Dutch business

Rabobank and Delta Lloyd Group are setting up a special fund to invest in the Dutch business community. Both financial institutions have maintained their staunchly independent positions during the credit crunch and now want to apply their investment potential in order to improve the financial position of Dutch market-listed businesses.

The key features of the Holland Project Fund are:

  • Capital is invested in high-quality Dutch businesses, based in the Netherlands and whose business is carried out to a significant degree in the Netherlands
  • The fund is administered by an independently operated management company with its own management team and an investment board
  • The fund’s initial capital is € 200 million from Delta Lloyd and Rabobank. A number of Dutch institutional investors will be approached with a view to participating in the fund. The fund aims for an eventual turnover of approximately € 1 billion.

The Holland Fund Project
The Holland Fund Project is a Rabobank and Delta Lloyd initiative. The aim of the fund is to support Dutch market-listed businesses by providing capital and at the same time to make an attractive return on investments.

The fund invests in high-quality businesses with value potential, which, as a result of the current economic downturn, are in need of capital. The main condition is that it must be a Dutch business, which focuses the bulk of its operations on the Netherlands.

Alongside Rabobank and Delta Lloyd a number of Dutch institutional investors will be approached with a view to participating in the Holland Fund Project.

Rabobank Nederland Executive Board member Sipko Schat says: “Unique market conditions call for innovative solutions. The Holland Fund Project fits perfectly with the type of initiatives which are needed at this time. It supports the business community in difficult times and at the same time offers a healthy return for investors”.

Delta Lloyd CFO Peter Kok says: “The Delta Lloyd Group has already been investing successfully for years in Dutch companies which we know well. We think that it is perfectly possible both to support the Dutch economy, and to attract a good return in these difficult economic times. The Holland Fund Project meets both these ambitions admirably.”

Management
The fund is managed by an independently operated management company, Project Holland Beheer BV, with its own, independent management team. An investment committee assesses the investment proposals and maintains oversight of policy.
