For the first time this year, the Golden Crown Awards presented to financial products on the Czech market also recognised the work of the Financial Evaluators, ie the panel of experts. The 2009 Award for Financial Evaluator of the Year went to Karel Veselý, general manager of Aviva životní pojišťovna. Mr Veselý came closest, out of all 293 members of the Financial Evaluation Panel who assess financial products, to the overall final mark for the products evaluated.
Certification of financial products
The primary purpose of the Golden Crown Awards is to help customers of financial institutions to find their way around the financial market. The products are evaluated partly by the public and partly by the Financial Evaluation Panel, a group of 293 experts from specialist and professional associations and representatives of financial companies. Each member of the Financial Evaluation Panel has to score financial products in their chosen category from one to 10. Karel Veselý proved himself to be a highly competent analyst, market connoisseur and, last but not least, independent judge, since his scores came closest to the final verdict of the members of the Financial Evaluation Panel.
Who is Karel Veselý
“I based my assessment primarily on my own experience and I also decided according to how the various financial products are faring at the moment,” the young general manager of Aviva životní pojišťovna explained. Another factor which helped Mr Veselý was that, before being appointed to the helm at Aviva životní pojišťovna, he worked as head of insurance mathematics and then commercial director at Aviva, the first company on the Czech market to specialise in investment life insurance. “Really high-quality analysis of the financial market, knowledge of the competing products and monitoring of the latest trends are all essential to us at Aviva životní pojišťovna for successful innovation of our products,” adds Mr Veselý, who feels that his new title is mainly recognition for his analytical abilities and sound judgement.
About the Golden Crown Awards
This was the seventh year of the Golden Crown Awards, organised by pdMedia in conjunction with specialist and professional associations. Awards are presented in this specialist poll in the following main categories: Innovation of the Year, Public Award and Industry Award. Financial products also compete in another fifteen categories. This year saw the introduction of the Financial Evaluator of the Year Award.
