Aviva Investors has appointed Mark Wauton as head of credit, Aviva Investors London, to oversee the asset manager’s credit team’s investment grade and high yield activities, effective immediately.
Mark will report to Paul Abberley, CEO Aviva Investors London and CIO fixed income, and will be responsible for helping drive fixed income performance for clients through the effective management of active credit portfolios. He will also be responsible for providing credit research support to other Aviva Investors business lines. He joins from ABN Amro where he was head of strategic credit trading.
Paul Abberley said: “This new role heading our investment grade and high yield activities is a vital addition to our strong fixed income team. Mark will focus on the acceleration of our high alpha capabilities in fixed income, while ensuring that we also deliver for more traditional active mandates.
“The landscape for credit has changed enormously during the past 18 months and I am confident Mark's skills, gained as a traditional buy-side investor, a hands-on manager in the hedge fund space, and a manager of balance sheet risk, will bring complementary fresh thinking to our investment approach.
“The opportunities for Aviva Investors are significant. Many observers view credit as one of the most attractive asset classes over for the next three years but very few active firms have delivered positive alpha recently. Unlocking this puzzle offers compelling investment opportunities for Mark and the wider investment team.”
