Aviva was once again rated as the market leader for stand alone life insurance new business sales, according to the Risk Distribution Report by NMG Financial Services (NMG) March 2009.
For the fifth quarter in a row, to December 2008, Aviva achieved the highest market share in the independent financial adviser channel, for retail stand alone new business.
According to Stephen Trist, Aviva's group director - distribution and marketing, the report reaffirms Aviva's industry leadership in product design and ease of business.
"This is a great result for Aviva given the highly competitive insurance market. Our life products have gone from strength to strength having also recently been awarded the AFA Life Company of the Year.
"Our life business has grown significantly over the last 12 months and this has been due to a mix of product innovation and quality service. It's also complemented by regional underwriting to make sure we work collaboratively with advisers and their clients. We are working hard to ensure the best claims experience when clients most need our help."
In addition to paper based, Aviva's life insurance products are also available via Riskfirst, a fully automated electronic underwriting system and the first signature free life insurance offering in Australia. This has cut application times from up to 30 days to as little as 30 minutes.
