Turkey: AvivaSA peace of mind for Sanofi-Aventis staff

Sanofi-Aventis, one of the world’s largest medicinal product companies, has put its trust in AvivaSA for the future of its staff.

Sanofi-Aventis, one of the world’s largest medicinal product companies, has put its trust in AvivaSA for the future of its staff. Under a personal pension plan offered in collaboration with AvivaSA, Sanofi-aventis will contribute one and a half times the staff’s contribution. Thanks to this, it is hoped, staff will be able to maintain their standard of living in retirement.

The world’s largest international pharmaceutical company Sanofi-Aventis has chosen to entrust Aviva SA Pension and Life with the future of its staff. In order to ensure a happy and secure retirement for its staff, Sanofi-Aventis, in collaboration with AvivaSA, is making a contribution one and a half times as large as that contributed by its staff in order to permit them to benefit from a personal pension system through its group pension plan. The plan, which covers about 90 per cent of the company staff, ensures that where, for example, an employee makes a contribution of 100 TL a month, the company will contribute 150 TL to provide a monthly accumulation of 250 TL. Thus, a member of staff who has worked for 25 years before retirement, may receive, in addition to the 950 TL from the Social Security Institution, 800 TL from the group pension plan, making up a total pension of 1,750 TL.

Sanofi-Aventis, which aims to ensure that its staff have the same standard of living in retirement as they had in their working life, is creating, by means of the group pension plan, an additional source of income for their staff at the end of their working life. Participation in the group pension plan at Sanofi-Aventis was 90% among employees over 50, 89% among those aged 40-49, 88% among those aged 30-39, and 84% among those aged 20-29. 90% of all male staff and 84 per cent of female staff participated in the group pension plan.

HR director Türkan Özcan, who drew attention to the fact that they had chosen the leader company in the sector to bring their staff into the personal pension system, said: “We entered this collaboration in order to safeguard the futures of our staff by protecting their contributions in the best possible way, because we always back our staff to the full. We want our staff to maintain their standard of living when they retire.”

Meral Egemen, general director of AvivaSA Pension and Life, said that a very special plan had been prepared for Sanofi-Aventis staff, and that they were very pleased to include AvivaSa as one of their institutional customers. Egemen, who stated that such contracts were a sign of the value a company placed upon its staff, said: “We have concluded a contract which will be rather beneficial to Sanofi-Aventis staff. The offer of personal pension plans with company contributions enhances the image of companies which are active in Turkey, and which have established a sound position for themselves in their respective sectors.”
