  • Updated time when Aviva is expected to cross the official Vendée Globe finish line and set a double world first is: 11:00 - 13:00 GMT on 16 February 2009

When British yachtswoman Dee Caffari, 36, onboard Aviva, crosses the official Vendée Globe finish line off the coast of Les Sables d'Olonne, France, she will set a new world record as the first woman to have successfully completed a solo, non-stop circumnavigation both ways around the world.

In May 2006, Caffari became the first woman to sail solo, non-stop the wrong way around the world (against the prevailing winds and currents). Today she is approaching the finish line of her solo, non-stop circumnavigation the ‘right' way around the world.

Caffari is currently 40 miles from the finish line and is approaching at 8.8 knots. The solo skipper is expected to take sixth position in the Vendée Globe in her debut race.

A further update will be distributed when Dee Caffari and Aviva are within 1 hour of the finish line.
