The current gale is predicted to subside later today, which will allow Caffari to further assess the damage sustained to her mainsail. Caffari is hoping to make some repairs in the next 24hrs.
The 10am race positioning ranked Dee Caffari in seventh, 60 miles ahead of Arnaud Boissières (Akena Vérandas).

"A wet and wild ride but it has been fast and easy miles.
"It's most unusual for this area to carry such good breeze for so long. I know there will be lighter patches ahead, but it has been great to put so many miles on the counter heading towards the finish line.
"The boat speed has been great and Aviva has really just got on with it. Despite the mainsail we have kept up with the boys so we are both very happy girls. The most noticeable difference is the temperature. Both sea temperature and air temperature has gone up noticeably. I am now closer to the equator than the finish line at Les Sables D'Olonne and so therefore ever closer to being able to shower and expose my skin to the warmth of the sun."
