For the last three years, Aviva, a major player in life insurance and long-term savings, asset management and non-life insurance, has worked together with the Sport Plus Conseil to present the annual Aviva Tennis Open, a national tournament reserved for players aged 35 and over.

Nearly 5,000 players took part in the 40 qualifying rounds decided between March and September in 40 cities in France. More than 200 of them met at the Club Med Pompadour for the National Final, which was held from 1-5 November on 15 indoor clay courts. Over these four days, nearly 250 matches were fought out in a great spirit of competitiveness, but also with great friendliness and fair play.

Those taking part, all of whom are amateurs, competed for prizes in their own particular category. The Women 45 and over category notably included three of the four members of France's over 50s team, who will be competing at the World Championships in Turkey this summer.

Enormously popular with its participants, the Aviva Tennis Open has become "The red letter day for over 35s tennis", officially recognised by the French Tennis Federation. For Aviva, too, it is a major event, an opportunity for the insurance company to highlight its closeness to its clients and to reinforce its standing locally. And of course, tennis embodies Aviva's values: team spirit, performance and closeness.
