Aviva, the savings, investments and insurance group, has made two senior appointments in its new group marketing function. Jan Gooding has joined as marketing operations director, and Oliver White will join on 1 December as customer and innovations director. They will both report to Amanda Mackenzie, Aviva's chief marketing officer.
Jan Gooding has joined Aviva from British Gas, where she was interim marketing director, responsible for brand, customer and marketing communications, and customer billing. In her new role at Aviva she will oversee three areas - marketing strategy and planning; procurement and marketing capability development - across Aviva's world-wide operations.
Jan's marketing experience is extensive. She spent 12 years working in the advertising industry, before setting up her own marketing consultancy, and she has also held senior marketing positions in BT and British Gas.
"The move to a global brand means it's such an exciting time to be joining Aviva" said Jan. "It's not often that a company sees beyond simply changing the logos and has such a clear vision of the bigger ‘prize'. Everyone at Aviva is committed to making the transition a success for customers, business partners, shareholders and staff, and I'm looking forward to playing my part in that, by helping to create a unified, global marketing function which will make a tangible contribution to Aviva's future success."
Oliver White joined Centrica in 2003 and has held senior roles there in customer insight, data management and change management. Oliver joined Barclays Group as a graduate trainee and worked at Barclaycard and Barclays Life, before becoming customer strategy director and then director of customer insight at Barclays Retail Financial Services.
In the newly created role of customer and innovations director at Aviva, Oliver will be responsible for ensuring that best practice and customer insight are shared across Aviva's marketing communities world-wide.
Commenting on this new opportunity, Oliver said: "My focus will be on making sure that everything we do starts and ends with the customer. Aviva is evolving and it's becoming an organisation which is passionate about listening to ‘the voice of the customer'. In my new role, I'll help to ensure that what we can learn, both from and about our customers, helps us to create market-leading products and services around the world."
