1 November will see the latest management changes at the CU Poland group.
Piotr Szczepiórkowski, who has been president of Commercial Union PTE since 2001, will take on the role of vice-president of CU Życie (CU Life). He will replace Stephen Marini, who in September of this year became president of Aviva in the Czech Republic. Piotr Szczepiórkowski will be responsible for the CU Poland group's most important company in terms of income, consisting of two lines of business - individual and group life insurance. Piotr Szczepiórkowski has been with CU since 1993 and his experience will also be used by appointing him as a member of the CU PTE supervisory board.
When he takes on his new role, Piotr Szczepiórkowski will hand the position of president of Commercial Union PTE to Michał Szymański. Michał Szymański, as the vice-president and director of investment, is currently responsible for managing the assets of CU OFE - the largest retirement fund in Poland and one of the largest of this type of fund in Europe (over 2.8 million customers and assets worth 35 billion zlotys). He is a doctor of economics and graduated from SGH (the Warsaw School of Economics). He has worked in the capital and asset management market for the last 13 years.
"We are making changes to the CU group which will allow us to make better use of the knowledge and experience of our management staff, thus reinforcing our market position. In recent months we have created an integrated Customer Service Department and we are working on fully introducing a customer relationship management (CRM) system. We have already set up a Marketing Department which is run by Dominika Kraśko-Białek. Another new member of our team is Elżbieta Wójcik who is responsible for CU Direct, our newest line of business which offers motor insurance over the telephone and online. We are convinced that Piotr Szczepiórkowski will strengthen the team in charge of this key area of our business (life insurance), while Michał Szymański will be just as successful in his management of the largest open pension fund on the market," said Adam Uszpolewicz, president of the Commercial Union Poland group.
