Poland: Kapitalna Przysz?o?? (Bright Future) - a regular investment plan

Commercial Union Polska - Towarzystwo Ubezpiecze? na ?ycie SA (Life Insurance company) has introduced an improved regular investment programme called Kapitalna Przysz?o??.

Commercial Union Polska - Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń na Życie SA (Life Insurance company) has introduced an improved regular investment programme called Kapitalna Przyszłość. This will replace three products which are currently available - Bonus, Superbonus and Młodzieżowa Polisa Przyszłościowa (Young Person's Policy for the Future).

Kapitalna Przyszłość is an investment programme in the form of life insurance, and involves regular contributions which can be paid every month (min 200 zl), every quarter (min 600 zl), every six months (min. 1,200 zl) or once a year (min 2,400 zl). The product is intended for customers who are interested in regularly saving money and long-term investment - there are 11 CU Życie (CU Life) capital funds to choose from.

The new product is accompanied by an information pack which will help customers select the best option for them in terms of the amount and frequency of their contributions and the prospects of their investment. They will then be able to fulfil their goals (eg saving money for a child's education, starting their own business, ensuring a decent standard of living upon retirement or fulfilling any other dreams which they may have).

By completing the questionnaire, My investment profile, the customer is able to select the best way of dividing their investment between funds with different levels of risk (from safe funds to purely joint-stock funds) The customer may also use the Parasol zysków (profit umbrella) service, which allows them to limit the risk that the value of the money which they have invested will decrease as a result of a fall in the price of shares when they want to pay money in. As time goes by, this service automatically restricts the number of shares in the customer's investment portfolio.

The customer may check the status of their account and change funds by telephone or online. Capital gains tax is not deducted when changing funds. The customer may also pay additional contributions in order to increase the growth rate of their capital. The allocation payment (20%) is only charged for the regular contributions paid during the first year of the programme. Kapitalna Przyszłość is a medium to long-term investment option, therefore the withdrawal of capital during the first 10 years will result in a lower liquidation payment.

The insurance element is as follows: if the policy holder should die, the beneficiaries receive 103% of the value of the account into which the regular contributions were paid, or the total amount of these contributions minus the amount of possible payments (depending on which of these figures is higher).

"It's always a good time to start saving regularly. If we compare the negative return rates for stock funds this year with the positive rates for the last 5 years, we can see the advantage of long-term investment. Regular payments both during periods of growth and decline, as well as long-term saving, limits the effect of the current market fluctuations. This is particularly important for those who are particularly concerned about the current state of their investments. Kapitalna Przyszłość is an excellent proposal for people with a responsible attitude towards their money," says Anita Bogusz, a member of the management board of CU Życie and head of individual insurance.
