Romania: Aviva has found the youngest Oxford scholar!

At only seven years of age, Andreea-Nicoleta Ungureanu from Timi?oara is the youngest Oxford scholar.

At only seven years of age, Andreea-Nicoleta Ungureanu from Timişoara is the youngest Oxford scholar. After two months of searching, on 12 August 2008, the campaign to find the youngest scholar, organised by Aviva and Mihaela Rădulescu, reached its conclusion, naming Andreea-Nicoleta as the beneficiary of an Aviva Scholarship. The prize offered by Aviva will give Andreea the option of studying at any university she wants anywhere in the world. The company will contribute 3,000 RON per year, for ten years, to this scholarship won in a draw by Mrs Costela Ungureanu for her daughter.

The campaign run on the www.bursadestudii.ro/ website from 3 June 2008 - 3 August 2008 was based around the launch of a new savings product added to the Aviva portfolio - the Aviva Scholarship. The product is a financial plan especially for children, designed to respond in the best possible way to Romanian consumers' need to make savings.

The Aviva Scholarship covers the main expenses of your child's period of study: self-study, tuition and exam fees, textbooks, accommodation, transport and meals.

The benefits offered by the Aviva Scholarship are:

Financial security:

  • The amount necessary for your child's most important plans: their university studies
  • The option to use the money accrued on other plans as well: starting up a business, buying an apartment
  • A secure financial future - whatever might happen, Aviva makes money for your child instead of you, and that way he or she benefits from the amount which you had planned for him or her
  • Security for your child - a sum of money which your child receives to look after him or herself when parents are no longer close at hand
  • Protection for your savings from the effects of long-term inflation

Flexibility:

  • The freedom to choose how much or how little to deposit
  • You can choose how to cash the money accrued in line with your future needs
    • A grant for a period of your choice
    • A one-off payment of money from the account
    • A combination of the options above
  • You can make additional deposits at any time if you have specific income
  • The freedom to change your investment plan in line with the degree of risk which you want to take

Performance:

  • Personalised investments in line with your risk profile and the projected growth potential
  • Access to an investment plan which guarantees that the share value will not fall
  • A team of investment professionals

Mihaela Rădulescu, who collaborated with Aviva in the search for the youngest scholar was delighted with the end of the campaign. "The company's concept struck me as being extremely interesting because it put the emphasis on the importance of the right education in order to succeed in life. The company is offering an amount of money which can be used to cover tuition costs at a prestigious university such as Oxford," said Mihaela Rădulescu.

The money can be used by the child either to cover the costs of their studies, or to launch a business or, pure and simple, it can provide them with financial security for a period of time.

"Every parent wants nothing but the best for their child: a successful career, a fulfilling family and material comfort. The road to achieving these aims is opened up by an excellent education which doubtless involves a considerable financial outlay. More and more parents are choosing to prepare themselves ahead of time for this moment by means of an accessible, secure and flexible financial plan," stated Shah Rouf, CEO Aviva Romania.
