Are you looking to shed light on the darkness and make the complex subject of company pension schemes easy to understand for your viewers or users? The Wiesbaden-based financial services provider Delta Lloyd Deutschland AG has now made film material available to online and television editors free of charge. The film lasts just under four minutes and uses a case study as an example to clearly set out in detail what a company pension scheme actually is and the advantages such a scheme offers over private pension provision.

Making use of tax advantages
With many employees in Germany having now recognised the necessity for additional pension provision, they are preparing for retirement to an ever greater extent. However, the majority of people prioritise private pension provision over a company scheme and do not reap the considerable benefits offered by the company pension scheme. In the latter, contributions are paid out of gross income and as such are not liable for taxation. So in comparison with private pension provision which has to be financed out of net income, it is possible to save through larger contributions. Nevertheless, to date the company pension scheme has played second fiddle in Germany - even though in recent years the legislature has cleared many obstacles out of the way and considerably improved the peripheral conditions: for example, at the end of last year the decision was taken to leave contributions to a company pension scheme free of social security charges. There was also an improvement made in portability, to allow existing pension rights to be more easily transferred over on any change of employer.
