Australia: Aviva’s industry first - interim accident cover before assessment

In an industry first, Aviva Australia has announced that it will be offering clients interim accident cover as soon as a statement of advice has been completed.

In an industry first, Aviva Australia has announced that it will be offering clients interim accident cover as soon as a statement of advice has been completed.

Aviva will be leading the way by offering 10 days of interim accident cover of up to A$1 million to clients if their adviser recommends Aviva in the statement of advice.

Aviva's Natalie Eckersall, general manager wealth protection products said that the interim accident cover will make it easier for advisers to provide protection for their clients.

"Most other insurance companies provide cover upon receipt of a completed application. We will be taking this a step further by offering 10 days of interim accident cover if an adviser recommends Aviva in their statement of advice. Clients will benefit by knowing that they are immediately protected in case of an accident whilst considering their insurance options."

The interim accident cover becomes valid upon Aviva receiving a completed Interim Accident Cover Certificate confirming the recommendation of Aviva in the adviser's statement of advice. This can be completed and emailed while the client is still in the adviser's office.

"This is a win - win for all, clients can be protected for the 10 day period which gives the client time to consider the statement of advice and a deadline to prompt them to accept their adviser's recommendation," said Ms Eckersall.

Interim accident cover can continue for a further period of up to 90 days, following receipt by Aviva of a completed application form.

Aviva's insurance products are available via its online underwriting platform, Riskfirst. For every application submitted via Riskfirst, A$1 will be donated to Camp Quality a non-profit organisation committed to bringing hope and happiness to children living with cancer and their families.
