World-renowned persons from the business world discussed climate change at a CEO Forum arranged through the cooperation of AvivaSA Emeklilik ve Hayat and Capital magazine. CEOs underscored the responsibilities that befall companies at the meeting, which World Wildlife Fund (WWF) chairman Jim Leape also attended.
AvivaSA Emeklilik ve Hayat, a leading trademark in the individual pension and life insurance sector, added yet another project to those it started up in the framework of the "Save Your Future" saving campaign it kicked off last month. AvivaSA, a sponsor of the CEO Forum on "Global Climate Change" organised through the cooperation of Capital and Ekonomist magazines and WWF-Turkey, stressed the necessity of companies fulfilling the responsibilities that befall them in this regard.
AvivaSA general director Meral Egemen, noting that they had begun a savings campaign with a "Save Your Future" concept, said that, by supporting the CEO Forum, they wanted to call attention to the necessity of the business world fulfilling their responsibilities in this world of ours, which is being rapidly depleted.
"We need to find ways to both produce the things we consume and at the same time consume less," said Egemen, adding that they believed that the campaign they started with this goal would encourage people to use all resources, including their money, more consciously.
AvivaSA general director Meral Egeman said: "By being here today, we are actualising the first of our efforts to broaden this sense of responsibility. Because we believe our basic responsibility is the responsibility we feel to our world, our environment. Every value we will achieve here is priceless to us. And we, as AvivaSA, as one of all the companies here now, will begin to work more actively for our tomorrow."
James Leape, chairman of the WWF, also gave a presentation at the meeting, which was held at the Conrad Istanbul under the moderation of CEO club chairman Akin Ongor and AvivaSA general director Meral Egeman. In his talk, Leape explained what mankind must do in order to establish a future in which they would live in harmony with nature. Touching on the subject of the economic effects of global warming, Leape shared research findings regarding effects on water resources, forests, seas and shores, the basic study fields of climate change, with those invited.
The CEOs participating in the meeting, for their part, also shared the measures their companies had taken regarding the matter.
