As Yann Elis joined Loick Peyron and Armel Le Cléach on the podium in Boston, conditions for Dee Caffari and the remaining Open 60 fleet continue to be frustrating. Caffari faced a difficult night sailing in light winds which has left the solo skipper with 450 miles to go to the finish.
Determined to sail her own race to the finish line, Caffari will face another day of testing conditions in light breeze. Her thoughts of a hot bath and soft duvet will have to wait another day as Caffari's estimated time of arrival is currently Tuesday morning (GMT).

"The next day improved dramatically after I had got some sleep. I felt on top of the game plan after looking at the weather and knew I just had to sail Aviva to Boston. If I followed everybody else then I would constantly lose miles. I should sail my race as I have the rest of the time. I just got caught up in the excitement of being close to the others.
"I dived south and changed gears ahead of time as I was confident we were getting to lighter breeze. Then just as I thought I was enjoying the sailing I stopped. Fogged in a wind hole. No vision, no wind, no boat speed, in fact not a lot of anything!
"Hours later the fogged rolled back to reveal a beautiful evening with about four knots of breeze that just about got us moving again. I saw the fog bank roll away and just know that was especially for us and I am sure the others yet again were sailing enjoying some pleasant sailing. We can only tell in the morning."
