Yesterday employees of Aviva Lithuania and financial consultants toiled intensively in Vilnius cleaning up the environment of the Užupis district. In all, about 100 bags of rubbish were collected, weighing in at more than two tonnes. With this collective effort the firm launched the "Aviva talka - žalia Lietuva" ("Aviva for a Green Lithuania") project. As part of this project, other cities in Lithuania will also be tidied up. In the past, Aviva Lithuania was the initiator of collective efforts at Kuršių Nerija for several years in a row.
"The collective effort in Vilnius is the first ‘green wave' of Aviva Lithuania. It will roll across Lithuania and grow into a series of collective efforts in the 15 cities where our firm has offices. We are attempting to unite people in doing good work that that they might not get around to doing individually. By acting together we are surely capable of changing the environment we work and live in. I think we managed to give an example of how not to be indifferent to the world around us," said Aviva Lithuania General Manager, Asta Ungulaitienė.
Last week, at the first presentation of awards for socially responsible business firms in Lithuania, Aviva Lithuania was chosen "Socially Responsible Firm of 2007" in the category of foreign firms operating in Lithuania. The life insurance and pension firm Aviva Lithuania is a member of the international Aviva group, which serves 45 million clients worldwide and has long-established traditions of social responsibility.
