Aviva Vida y Pensiones made a donation to the charity África Directo to provide educational scholarships and nutritional support for children in Tanzania as part of its 2007 charity initiative. This initiative consisted of Aviva Vida y Pensiones donating €1 for every €3,000 earned by its brokers in the pension plan campaign.
Maria Ángeles Garralda, managing director of Aviva Vida y Pensiones, commented: "supporting charities such as África Directo demonstrates Aviva Vida y Pensiones' commitment to projects that contribute to the development of the most needy countries. Aviva Vida y Pensiones had previously presented this charity with a prize at the Insurance Solidarity Awards, for its active participation in improving the standard of living in Africa. This year, our company will continue building on this policy and its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, working with various charities."
CSR is one of the fundamental pillars of Aviva Vida y Pensiones, which has implemented a number of initiatives addressing a range of themes including reconciliation of work and family life, employee training, charity events, equal opportunities for women, respect for the environment and voluntary work.
The donation was presented to Guadalupe Martín Laborda, Vice-President of África Directo. This charity is made up entirely of volunteers and has been working on the African continent for twelve years.
