UAB Commercial Union Lithuania Life Insurance, registered in the Registry of Legal Persons under its new name Uždaroji akcinė gyvybės draudimo ir pensijų bendrovė Aviva Lietuva (Closed Stock Company of Life Assurance and Pensions Aviva Lithuania).
The company is owned by the Aviva group - the world's fifth-largest provider of life insurance and pensions. The group was named "Aviva" in 2002 when the UK life insurance and pensions groups CGU and Norwich Union merged. CGU was set up in 1998 when Commercial Union and General Accident merged. The history of the group goes back 300 years. Today, Aviva group has 40 million customers and is active in 25 countries across the world, including Australia, the USA and most European countries. In most countries, companies owned by the group also use the Aviva logo.
"When the group came to Lithuania in 2001, it was under the name of Commercial Union. Over a period of six years, we consolidated our position among life assurance and pensions market leaders and became an integral part of public life in our country. We begin our seventh year of activity in Lithuania under our new name, Aviva. The change of company name is part of Aviva's common brand strategy. We are currently working on changing the company's name - printing new document forms, renewing information material and changing signage on the company's offices. Our clients and partners will be advised of the name change shortly. All contracts, payment receipts and other documents which show the name UAB Commercial Union Lithuania will remain valid after the company's name change.
