A free and unbiased retirement planning website www.six-steps.org produced by Aviva plc, the international savings, investments and insurance group, has been named a winner in the 2007 Financial Innovation Awards.
Six-steps.org was crowned the best corporate social responsibility programme at the London awards ceremony and was also short-listed in the category of most innovative application of technology in the insurance sector.
Judges of the award said: "Aviva impressed with six-steps.org, an accessible, engaging and jargon-free web site, to provide people with free, unbiased financial information and ideas. This innovation meets a massive, currently unfulfilled, need across the population in the UK. Financial education of this nature will have significant long-term benefits and Aviva should be proud of its contribution."
Stephen Pain, group corporate affairs director at Aviva plc, said: "We're absolutely delighted that Aviva's commitment to financial education has been recognised in this way, particularly given the extremely high quality of the competition. We want six-steps.org to be a practical online tool that gives impartial advice and helps people to understand the need to save for their retirement."
The Financial Innovation Awards, now in their 10th year, recognise and celebrate effective innovation within the financial services sector. Other winners in the 22 categories included Lloyds TSB, Legal & General, HSBC and ABN Amro.
The award is the second for the site in the last two months as Aviva was named a winner in the website category at this year's International Visual Communication Association (IVCA) Clarion Awards, where judges described six-steps.org as: "A brilliant, simple and clear site which is non-condescending in its approach to its markets."
