Commercial Union Poland group, which has for many years achieved excellent investment results, especially in equity-oriented  funds, is adding guaranteed investment products to its offering. They are intended above all for active investors at a time of increased equity market volatility, and for the more risk-averse clients.

In the last dozen years or more, the Poles have rapidly ascended the investment learning curve - from bank deposits via bonds to the equity market. "Analysing the inflows of funds into equity-based mutual funds we could conclude that Poles are highly risk-tolerant. Only investor behaviour during a sharper market correction will show whether this is really so. We hope that most of our clients knowingly invest in riskier assets, aware that over the long term the risk will turn out to have been justified, and will produce high returns, and that only a few are motivated by the wish to engage in short-term speculation, ignoring the risk," says Marek Przybylski, general manager of CU Mutual Funds and CU Investment Management.

In addition, very many Poles have substantial savings, and would like to benefit from the positive trends in various riskier financial asset markets (shares, bonds, commodities ), but are also afraid of potential losses, inseparably associated with those markets.

This is the client group to which Commercial Union has addressed its new offering - a line of structured products named CU Guarantee, which take the form of endowment individual life insurance. "The products offer features which would seem impossible to combine - the opportunity to make money in even the riskiest markets, together with a total or partial guarantee of return of the invested capital," emphasises Marek Przybylski.

The first launch in the new product line is CU Guarantee Polish Equities Plus, which is concluded for 3.5 years, with a minimum investment of 10,000 zlotys. This product enables clients to earn approximately 50% of the profit generated by a portfolio of stock exchange indexes, 50% of which consists of the Warsaw Stock Exchange WIG-20 index, while the other 50% is made up of four mature equity market indexes.

If the stock market falls and the portfolio makes a loss, the client does not suffer, being able to take advantage of the guarantee.

The first of the new products is available from 22 October until 9 November from 400 CU insurance agents, and from the first CU point of sale of investment products, located in Warsaw at al. Jana Pawła II 80 (the Babka Tower building near Rondo Radosława). "We plan to open three more points of sale in Warsaw by the end of the year," adds Marek Przybylski.
