Aviva India once again gave India's youngsters the unique chance to participate in the Australian Open, the Grand Slam of the Asia Pacific, through the Aviva Ballkids programme.
The selection programme took place last weekend, 1-2 September 2007, at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA) courts in Delhi.
This year, the response has been tremendous, with over 200 children being shortlisted to attend the Aviva Ballkids trials.
The four lucky children selected to represent India at the Australian Open are: Talin Mundkar, Jahanvi Khokhar, Prabhakar Shatrack and Akansha Singh. They are from the leading schools of Delhi.
This was a unique opportunity for children between the ages 12 to 15 years to fuel their tennis ambitions and watch the world's best players in action. The four chosen Aviva Ballkids besides representing India, will have the privilege of actually watching the world champions perform at close quarters.
The selection process, conducted by the Tennis Australia team, was rigorous and took into account crucial factors such as hand-eye coordination, concentration levels, work ethic, reaction times, rolling of the ball and general tennis knowledge.
