Aviva Australia, a leading provider of life insurance, investments and superannuation, is expanding into the Tasmanian market, having opened its new office in Hobart.
"Establishment of a physical presence in Tasmania is an exciting move for us, as it supports our continued growth in Australia and underscores our long-term commitment to servicing Tasmanian financial planners," said Scott Daubeny, state manager, Victoria and Tasmania.
"We are confident that as our business in Tasmania grows, more local jobs will result."
The Tasmanian operation will be led by local businesswoman Bronwyn Hill in the role of business development manager.
"We are delighted that Bronwyn has joined the Aviva team - she brings to the role a deep understanding of the financial services industry, its processes and the unique characteristics and challenges facing the Tasmanian marketplace," said Mr Daubeny.
Ms Hill says she is looking forward to being part of Aviva's growth in Tasmania.
"It's great to see a company such as Aviva establishing a permanent presence here - while some financial services companies have closed their doors on smaller markets, Aviva recognises the great potential and progress occurring in Tasmania," she said.
Establishment of Aviva's first office in Tasmania coincided with the launch of Riskfirst in Launceston and Hobart this week. An industry first, Riskfirst is Aviva's online underwriting platform, which provides signature-free applications.
