The second running of the aerobic gymnastics contest - the "Aviva Pelendava Cup" brought together over 150 young hopefuls in the sport at 11am on 31 March 2007 at the National Theatre in Craiova. These future champions of Romania competed to win major prizes.

The contest was organised by the Craiova Children's Residence, the Dolj County School Inspectorate and the County Directorate for Sport, with the main backer of the competition being Aviva Life Insurance, the largest provider of pensions and life insurance to Europe. Registered for the competition were children aged between 8 and 17 representing children's residences and clubs from Craiova, Bucharest, Timişoara, Arad, Iaşi, Oradea, Slatina, Petroşani, Târgu Jiu.

"We are proud to be able to support talented young aerobic gymnasts in order for them to realise their dreams and reach perfection in the sport that they have chosen to practice. The Aviva Pelendava Cup is a competition which supports the development of young sportsmen and women, helping them to become champions in aerobic gymnastics. It is the second year running that Aviva has sponsored this competition, specifically because we are convinced of the importance of sport to the positive development of young people. In the UK there is already a tradition of sponsorship of athletes; in this country over a million children - talented young people - benefit from the support of Aviva. We help people to enjoy life through the investments that we make for them in the community in which we operate, but also through the products and services that we offer to them," stated Shah Rouf, director general of Aviva Life Insurance.

"The main objective of the ‘Aviva Pelendava Cup' national aerobic gymnastics competition is to attract more and more children into after-school activities whilst implicitly bringing on healthy children through the positive combination of a perfect physical and corresponding mental condition. The over 150 children participating are spread across a number of age groups and represent sports clubs from a number of counties: Dolj, Timiş, Iaşi, Gorj, Olt and Bucharest. The contest is a good opportunity to assess the standard of preparation of the competitors, whilst at the same time allowing for knowledge sharing between the trainers of the groups participating. We are extremely happy with our collaboration with Aviva, without whose help, this competition would not have taken place," stated the organiser of the contest professor Alina Mălăiescu-Udrea.
