Australian boys and girls aged 12 to 15 years can now apply to be an Aviva Ballkid at the 2008 Australian Open.
Interested youngsters can apply by visiting the Australian Open web site, www.AustralianOpen.com under "Staff Information" from now until 16 March 2007.
Aviva's group director products, marketing and public relations Rob Donaghy said each year there are thousands of applicants for Aviva Ballkid positions so anyone interested needs to get their applications in early.
"Aviva is extremely proud to sponsor the Aviva Ballkids at the Australian Open. Each year the Aviva Ballkids rise to the challenge and ensure this world class tennis tournament runs smoothly," said Rob.
The Aviva Ballkids selected for the 2008 tournament will join an elite group, including some who have gone on to be champion Australian tennis players themselves, such as Pat Rafter and Lleyton Hewitt.
Interested youngsters will complete a number of selection trials and training sessions in the lead up to the Australian Open 2008. They will be tested for their ball skills, hand-eye coordination and tennis knowledge.
Aviva has sponsored the Ballkids since 2005 and offers a trophy and prize of A$1000 to the best ballboy and the best ballgirl at the Australian Open.
Aviva is also involved in tennis right around the country, with representation at Sydney's Medibank International, the Gold Coast's Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts, the Next Generation Adelaide International, and the Moorilla Hobart International.
"The experience of being an Aviva Ballkid helps young people learn new skills and gives them the opportunity to meet new friends while taking part in an exciting event. Aviva is proud to make that happen," said Rob.
