Norwich Union today announces the business acquisition of Maidenhead-based Rehabilitation UK, one of the country’s leading centres for evidence-based treatment* of injuries such as whiplash and other musculoskeletal injuries.
This move supports Norwich Union Healthcare’s (NUHC) business and extends its capability in occupational health and rehabilitation services, which is delivered by its occupational health business, Norwich Union Occupational Health. Dr Martin Strudley, the founder of Rehabilitation UK, will become director of rehabilitation, Norwich Union Occupational Health and will bring new ideas and thinking to the way rehabilitation services are provided by Norwich Union.
Martin and his 15 strong team will continue to deliver and develop evidence-based approaches to personal injury care with the support of a network of physiotherapist and psychological therapists and through Norwich Union Occupational Health’s growing network of medical centres including London, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Liverpool and Maidenhead.
Tim Baker, commercial director, Norwich Union Healthcare, said: “Norwich Union has been working with Rehabilitation UK for a number of years. Martin and his team have helped many Norwich Union clients, especially those involved in car accidents. This move will allow us to utilise Rehabilitation UK’s expertise in the area of rehabilitation and work with their network of physiotherapists and psychological therapists to promote evidence-based approaches to support a wider variety of cases.”
Dr Martin Strudley, director of rehabilitation, Norwich Union Occupational Health, said: “Having worked with them for a number of years I understand their desire to use the evidence-based therapies to support customers. In addition, the government is now recognizing the importance of rehabilitation services and how they encourage people to return to work earlier. The development of these services within the private sector is crucial to support the work of the NHS and those employers who wish to support their staff and in future support the NHS. I look forward to working with the NUOH team to develop this opportunity.“
