Norwich Union has launched a risk management pack to help businesses control the cost of slips and trips at work, which currently amounts to Ł512million a year for UK employers*.

The Slips and Trips Management Pack contains a comprehensive set of documents designed to enable a property owner or manager to put in place a proactive risk management programme. These include working documents for use by the property owner.

John Whittaker, property underwriter at Norwich Union, comments: “Research shows that 50% of all reported accidents involving the public are caused by slips, trips and falls* and the associated cost resulting from compensation claims and down-time to businesses are considerable.

“We have developed this pack to provide property owning clients with practical support to help them manage their business exposure to slip and trip accidents. It is not often appreciated that in many cases these accidents are preventable and the pack provides the guidance and tools needed to educate and equip the property owner to reduce incidents, and at the same time save costs.”

The launch of the pack coincides with the Health and Safety Executive’s Watch Your Step campaign. Launched in October 2005, it aims to raise awareness of how slip and trip accidents can be avoided in the workplace and proposes solutions to deal with the problem.

To get your copy of the pack contact your regional underwriter or account manager at your local Norwich Union branch.
