RAC staff in Bradley Stoke were boosted by a visit from Team RAC drivers Rob Collard and Colin Turkington ahead of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton on Sunday 4 June.

RAC sponsor Team RAC, which is run by racing professionals WSR (West Surrey Racing) and are currently fourth in the championship standings.

Rob, Colin and Grid Girl Liz Bunscombe spent the morning with RAC staff for a question and answer session, swapped stories and gave hints and motivation tips.

After the question and answer session staff were able to get up close to the 2.0 litre MG ZS race car driven by Collard that can reach top speeds of over 150 mph and 0-60 mph in an impressive 4.5 seconds.

The visit was part of RAC's reward programme and there are even more benefits for RAC staff during the season, as they will have the chance to win race day tickets, full Team RAC racing kit and even enjoy a special Team RAC track day.

Jo Hale, head of RAC Rescue contact centre, said: “The visit from Team RAC was a fantastic experience for the staff at Bradley Stoke. Rob and Colin are a real inspiration and it was great to have them join us for the day to share their experiences and motivation tips.”

Colin Turkington, who won Team RAC's first race of the season at Thruxton on Sunday, added: “It was a pleasure to meet the RAC staff. I feel very privileged to be racing with Team RAC this year. The MG was already a proven car, but with help from RAC I'm sure that the team will have a successful season.”

RAC staff across the country will also benefit from the sponsorship which represents a return to RAC's roots in motorsport, after the organisation was involved in BTCC when it was established in 1958. Team RAC is the latest in a series of activities that demonstrate RAC's expertise in motoring, symbolised by its current advertising campaign - "the people behind the people behind the wheel".

Under the sponsorship, Team RAC have entered the ten race events with two RAC branded WSR-designed and built MG ZS cars driven by touring car stars Colin Turkington and Rob Collard. Some staff will even be fortunate enough to enjoy passenger rides with them in the 2.0 litre MG ZS race cars, that put out an impressive 275bhp!
