Anyone interested in signing up with Commercial Union (CU) Pension Fund simply needs to text the number 4747, and a CU representative will be in touch to establish the best way of conveying information on the fund's offer and how to complete the formalities. This innovative idea is an element of the campaign under the slogan “You choose, we act”, which encourages people to make their own choice of pension fund before the next draw by the Polish State Social Security Agency.
People starting their first job or business activity have seven days to choose an open pension fund. If they fail in this duty, Social Security Agency will send them reminders. If “latecomers” have not signed a contract with a fund of their choice by 10 July, they will be placed in a draw to be run by the Agency on 31 July.
In the weeks running up to the cut-off date of 10 July, the largest pension fund in the market, Commercial Union, similarly to previous years, has come up with an educational and publicity campaign for radio, the internet, suburban trains and the Warsaw underground. The campaign parallels the introduction of a new way for anyone who is interested to make contact with CU Pension Fund – by sending a text message, which costs the same as a text in the tariff the given customer is on. Another possibility is to call the information line on 0-801 888 444 , or to visit the website at www.cu.com.pl.
When a text message is sent, the potential customer will be informed by return that a CU representative will ring within 24 hours. This representative will establish how the interested person would like to sign a contract – by meeting a CU agent, by completing a form over the telephone with a consultant then receiving it by courier for signature, or by filling in a form on the internet.
The publicity campaign that gets under way today (12 June) includes Polish national radio RMF FM, the Radio Eska network and other local broadcasters. Commercial Union Pension Fund has also created a campaign involving banners at internet portals and advertising posters to appear in local trains in eight provinces. This campaign is mainly aimed at young people who are just beginning to work in a profession.
Since the beginning of pensions reform in 1999, Commercial Union Pension Fund has been the uninterrupted market leader in terms both of the number of customers it services (almost 2,600,000), and of the assets value (currently over 26 billion zlotys or Ł4.4 billion).
