"The Pelendava Cup" is an important inter-regional gymnastics contest where 100 of Romania’s future gymnastics champions compete to win one of Romania’s top gymnastic awards. The contest is organised by the Craiova Children’s Palace and the Regional School Union in Dolj and will take place on the 2-3 June to follow celebrations from the 1 June National Romanian Children’s Day.

We appreciated the commitment and the responsiveness Aviva had in encouraging the young talents as well as the support in awarding these talented people.”

The contest is a part of the children’s extra curricular school activities developed to form healthy children who will match mental development with physical well being.

Athletics
In the UK, Aviva is a driving force behind athletics with its Norwich Union brand.

In 2001 Norwich Union announced a sponsorship commitment to UK athletics worth Ł20 million that runs until the end of 2006. At the time, the deal was one of the largest ever for any British sporting governing body. But in April 2006, Norwich Union announced an even bigger deal, committing Ł50 million to UK athletics until the end of 2012. Currently, this is the largest UK sports sponsorship deal outside football.

The new agreement commences on 1 January 2007 and places more emphasis on the preparation of future champions at a time when the UK is preparing to host the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

The company also provides total support of the UK athletics development programme: Norwich Union star:track, Norwich Union sports:hall, Norwich Union shine:awards and Norwich Union agility:challenge.

These are all community-based activities reaching one million children and designed to improve their athletic skills and help them to become tomorrow's athletes.

Norwich Union actively supports the local community through sponsorship and a charitable giving programme. In addition, this new funding builds on existing sponsorship of UK Athletics.
