This month, Delta Lloyd started sending out new statements to some insureds having stopped sending them out in April due to the discovery of a defect in the accounting software. This resulted in too positive statements of capital sums for several investment products. This involves the interim statements for 16,000 policies sent out in the period from the beginning of 2003 to April 2005.

The discovery will not affect policyholders. Interim statements of capital sums are an indication of possible changes in the value of an investment-linked policy. The policy value on the statement and the amounts and guaranteed values mentioned in quotations and policies are all correct. Therefore, all clients made their decision to purchase on the basis of the correct information.

Insureds receive an annual statement which is intended to inform them of changes in the value of the policy. Apart from the policy value, the statement also gives examples of how the policy may develop further in various theoretical investment scenarios.
