Aviva: 30 years of orchestra sponsorship hits a high note

A remarkable milestone has been reached with the 30th anniversary of Aviva's sponsorship of the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO).

A remarkable milestone has been reached with the 30th anniversary of Aviva's sponsorship of the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO).

The partnership, which began through Commercial Union in 1975, is one of the LPO's longest-standing sponsorships.

Aviva marked the occasion by supporting the orchestra's annual gala at the Banqueting House on Whitehall, London, on 5 July. Earlier this year, the group supported celebrations at an LPO concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Aviva has also become the first corporate donor to the LPO's endowment fund, with a donation of £50,000.

Sarah Loughran, head of corporate communications, said: "For both Aviva and the LPO, this is not just about celebrating our past relationship, but an opportunity to look ahead to new ways of supporting the future of the orchestra."

The LPO was established by Sir Thomas Beecham in 1932. It is resident at the Royal Festival Hall and Glyndebourne Festival Opera, and presents annual concert series in London, Brighton and Eastbourne. It also appears frequently overseas and runs an extensive education and outreach.
